Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) was incorporated under the Indian Companies Act, 1956 with the objective to plan, promote and organize an integrated and efficient development of iron and steel and associated input industries. “The Public Sector Iron and Steel Companies (Restructuring and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1978” was enacted with the aim to bring all the public sector integrated plants under the overall control of an integrated company i.e. SAIL which is to function as an integral steel complex. SAIL is a Schedule ‘A’ / Maharatna PSE in Steel sector with the administrative jurisdiction of Ministry of Steel.
II. JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Director in-charge of Burnpur and Durgapur Steel Plants is a member of the Board of Directors and reports to Chairman. He/she is the overall in-charge of Burnpur and Durgapur Steel Plants and is responsible for efficient functioning of the Plants and the concerned mines for achieving the corporate objectives and performance parameters. He/she will also be responsible for project implementation at the plants/ concerned mines and for marketing/ sales of products from the Plants/ concerned mines.
