The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has recently discovered that two individuals have fraudulently claimed that they were recommended by the UPSC in the Civil Services Examination 2022. These claims are entirely false, as the individuals in question have forged documents to support their fraudulent assertions.
The UPSC system is highly secure and reliable, making such errors impossible. In the present cases, the details of the fake candidates and the findings are as follows:
- Ms. Aysha Makrani, daughter of Shri Salimmuddin Makrani, is claiming to have been finally recommended by the UPSC. However, she has forged documents to support her claim. Her actual Roll Number is 7805064. She appeared in the Preliminary Examination held on June 5th, 2022, and scored only 22.22 marks in General Studies Paper-I and 21.09 marks in General Studies Paper-II. According to the Examination Rules, she needed to score at least 66 marks in Paper-II to qualify. Not only did she fail to qualify in Paper-II, but she also scored far below the cut-off marks of Paper-I, which were 88.22 for the unreserved category in the 2022 Preliminary Examination. Consequently, Ms. Aysha Makrani failed at the Preliminary Examination stage and did not progress to the subsequent stages of the Examination. On the other hand, Ms. Ayasha Fatima, daughter of Shri Naziruddin, with Roll Number 7811744, is the genuine candidate who has been recommended by the UPSC, securing the 184th rank in the final result of the Civil Services Examination 2022.
- Similarly, in the case of Shri Tushar, it has been found that Shri Tushar, son of Shri Brijmohan from Rewari, Haryana, had applied for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2022. He was assigned Roll Number 2208860 for this examination. He appeared in the Preliminary Examination and scored minus 22.89 marks in General Studies Paper-I and 44.73 marks in General Studies Paper-II. As per the Examination Rules, he needed to score at least 66 marks in Paper-II. Thus, Shri Tushar also failed at the Preliminary Examination stage and did not progress to the subsequent stages of the Examination. On the other hand, it is confirmed that Shri Tushar Kumar, son of Shri Ashwini Kumar Singh, with Roll Number 1521306 from the state of Bihar, is the genuine candidate who has been recommended by the UPSC and secured the 44th rank.
Both Ms. Aysha Makrani and Shri Tushar have acted in violation of the rules of the Civil Services Examination 2022 notified by the Government of India (Department of Personnel & Training). Therefore, in accordance with the Examination Rules, the UPSC is considering both criminal and disciplinary actions against these candidates for their fraudulent acts.
These cases have been widely reported in electronic and print media. Irresponsible reporting by one media channel claimed that the UPSC has admitted its mistake in one of the two cases and is investigating how such an error occurred. Several other media channels and social media platforms have also disseminated the news without verifying its authenticity. This behavior by the said media channel is unprofessional. It is essential for media channels to verify the authenticity of such claims with the UPSC before broadcasting or publishing news regarding fake claims through their platforms.
