Today, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated two National Highway projects in Vadodara, Gujarat. These projects, with a combined cost of Rs. 48 crore, had their Bhumi Pujan (groundbreaking ceremony) conducted a year and a half ago on the birthday of the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
Shri Gadkari highlighted the improvement work carried out near Dumad Chowkdi on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara section of National Highway 48. This project, spanning approximately 3 km, has been inaugurated at a cost of Rs. 27.01 crore. The Minister emphasized that the project includes the construction of new service roads, vehicular underpasses, and RCC crash barriers. These additions will alleviate traffic congestion and enhance safety during travel.
The second project, which cost Rs. 17 crore, spans around 1 km and is being dedicated to the nation. Located near the Dena Junction of Vadodara on National Highway 48, the project comprises an underpass and service road. Notably, solar-powered street lights have been used for the first time on National Highway 48 as part of this project. The use of Polymer Modified Bitumen in the construction of the underpass and service road surface will provide increased strength and resistance to cracks.
Shri Gadkari also mentioned that these projects feature the construction of a 3-lane service road for the first time. The improved connectivity provided by these projects will benefit the villages of Dena, Harini, and Virod, making the accident-prone area safer for traffic. Additionally, the projects will enhance accessibility to industrial areas, facilitating smoother movement.
