The biennial Gunnery Symposium 2023 unfolded at INS Dronacharya, the Navy’s Center for Excellence in Gunnery and Missile Warfare. Held under the auspices of Headquarters Southern Naval Command on November 13 and 14, the event drew experts from the Gunnery field to delve into cutting-edge technologies and operational strategies related to sensors.

Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff and a distinguished Gunnery Specialist, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The symposium, a triennial affair, featured the participation of Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, alongside senior officers and Gunnery specialists from the Indian Navy’s Fleets and frontline ships.

Under the overarching theme, ‘Emerging Technologies in Gunnery and Missile Warfare,’ the symposium explored topics such as Next-Gen Missions and Technologies, the Modern Navy’s pursuit of niche technologies, and Training for a Future-Proof Force. A ‘Compendium of Papers,’ encapsulating the insights shared during the event, was unveiled.

This significant gathering is part of the centennial celebrations honoring the legacy of the late Admiral R L Pereira (Retd), former Chief of Naval Staff, a proud Gunner in his own right.
