The Department of Posts, in alignment with the Government of India’s Swachhta and Special Campaign 3.0, has made significant strides since commencing the initiative on October 2, 2023. The Special Campaign 3.0, a comprehensive good governance endeavour, centers on enhancing public grievance handling, addressing Members of Parliament’s references, ensuring workplace cleanliness, optimizing scrap disposal and file management, freeing up valuable space, and fostering innovations to benefit both citizens and staff.

The following accomplishments have been achieved under the Special Campaign 3.0, demonstrating the Department’s dedication to excellence:

  1. Cleanliness Campaigns: Approximately 75,000 locations, including rural post offices, have undergone extensive cleanliness campaigns, exceeding the department’s annual commitment.
  2. Grievance and Appeal Resolution: The Department has successfully addressed 42,965 public grievances (target: 72,000) and 783 public appeals (target: 950) during the campaign period.
  3. Efficient File Management: A total of 54,562 files have been reviewed, with 42,736 files weeded out, streamlining the administrative process.
  4. Space Optimization: The campaign has resulted in the freeing up of 38,593 square feet of valuable space.
  5. Revenue Generation: The initiative has generated an impressive revenue of Rs. 64,93,042.

In addition to these notable achievements, the Special Campaign 3.0 has fostered exemplary practices in line with India Post’s people-centric approach:

  • Recognition of Safai Mitras: The Department has wholeheartedly embraced the felicitation of Safai Mitras, championing the cause of Swachhta and a Garbage-Free India. Efforts are being made to extend social and financial support to these Swachhta Warriors around every post office in collaboration with other stakeholders.
  • Sustainable Initiatives: Innovative campaigns such as stitching carry bags from old clothing in Durg Division, Chhattisgarh, and distributing cloth bags with Postal Life Insurance and Swachhta Awareness slogans in Tamil Nadu have encouraged the public to repurpose old garments and reduce plastic usage.
  • Environmental Awareness: Prominent post offices have been adorned with Wall Arts and other initiatives to promote environmental awareness and instill a social commitment to a cleaner India.

The Department is committed to creating a positive service environment for customers and a fulfilling workplace for post office employees. Initiatives include establishing customer libraries in Rohini Sector 15, Delhi, with similar libraries already operational in Dehra Division, Himachal Pradesh, and the Dehradun Divisional Office, Uttarakhand. Furthermore, innovative clubs, such as yoga and recreation clubs, have been established to enhance employee health and well-being, with a particular focus on creating amenities for female employees, children, and senior citizens.

Having achieved significant milestones in Swachhta and good governance, the Department now shifts its focus towards High Visibility Sites and sustaining the progress made during the remaining period of the Special Campaign 3.0.
