The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) has appointed Dr. Ajay Mathur as the new Chief, presently working as the Director General of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) of the Government of India.

In February 2015, an alleged sexual harassment complaint was filed by a research assistant at TERI against R K Pachauri and an FIR was registered against Pachauri on charges of sexual harassment under IPC sections 354, 354(a), 354(d) and 506 .

Dr. Mathur received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Roorkee, and PhD from the University of Illinois. He has received the Outstanding Alumni Award of the University of Illinois in 2002, and also coauthored three books, and has been a lead author of several reports of the IPCC including the IPCC Special Report on Technology Transfer. Dr Mathur has worked on energy research, financing, and implementation and headed the World Bank’s Climate Change Team in Washington, DC; and the Energy Engineering Division of TERI in New Delhi; and has also been President of Suzlon Energy Limited.
