INS TRISHUL AT PORT ANJOUAN

INS Trishul, as part of the Indian Navy’s long-range deployment, recently visited Port Anjouan in Comoros from May 31 to June 2, 2023. Upon arrival, the ship was received by civil-military leadership and anchored off Anjouan Island. During the visit, Captain Kapil Kaushik, the Commanding Officer, held meetings with senior government officials in Anjouan.

The visit included professional interactions with the Comoros Armed Forces and Comoros Coast Guard, sports activities, and a joint Yoga session with the Comoros Defence forces. Additionally, a training workshop on the maintenance of Outboard Motors (OBMs) was conducted for Comorian Coast Guard personnel. INS Trishul also assisted the Comorian Coast Guard in repairing communication equipment and Navigation Radar displays at the Port Control. As part of its community outreach efforts, the ship organized a medical camp for the local population of Anjouan. Approximately 500 people received medical consultations, including ophthalmic, cardiovascular, ENT, and general health check-ups. Furthermore, Basic Life Saving (BLS) training was provided to Comoros Defence personnel.

The port call at Anjouan highlights India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing maritime security cooperation with regional navies in its neighborhood. Indian Naval ships have been making regular visits to Comoros in the past, further emphasizing the importance of the relationship between the two nations.
