On 16th May 2023, Secretary of Food Processing Industries (FPI), Smt. Anita Praveen, chaired the First Inter-Ministerial Committee Meeting in New Delhi. The purpose of the meeting was to update officials on the preparations for World Food India 2023 and discuss the participation of respective Ministries, Departments, and Organizations in the event. This meeting was part of a series of interactions to inform the Ministry’s plan of action for the upcoming World Food India 2023 and explore areas of collaboration. Senior officials from key central government ministries and departments attended the roundtable discussion.
During her address, the Secretary of FPI requested officials to share their specific plans for participation and partnership in the Mega Food Event scheduled to be held in New Delhi from 3rd to 5th November 2023.
All central ministries and departments were urged to provide suggestions on the planned sessions of World Food India and actively participate in the event. They were also requested to support the Ministry in raising awareness through their respective Department’s social media handles and ensure the participation of senior policymakers, industry members, self-help groups (SHGs), and other relevant stakeholders to make the event a resounding success.
The participating officials expressed their support to the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) and offered assistance through technical/sectoral sessions, investment-oriented sessions with Ambassadors and High Commissioners, buyer-seller meets/RBSMs (Reverse Buyer-Seller Meets), engagements with startups, intellectual property rights (IPRs), ONDC (One Nation One Digital Platform), promotion of Ayush Aahar products, and Geographical Indication (GI) products. Some officials also emphasized the need for participation from exporters associated with their respective boards.
Secretary FPI concluded by urging all stakeholders to collaborate and contribute their strengths to ensure the success of the event. The next meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee is expected to be held in June 2023 to solidify concrete partnerships and participation of different stakeholders.
Furthermore, the Investment Facilitation Cell (Invest India) and the event partner (FICCI) were directed to coordinate with the ministries and departments involved to facilitate the discussed action plan and seek necessary support from government bodies.
