Sri V Thangapandian, Director (Power & Mines), NLC India Limited, inaugurated the 147th Operation Co-ordination Sub-Committee (OCC) Meeting of Southern Regional Power Committee at Neyveli on 10.09.2018.

Southern Regional Power Committee (SRPC), Bangaluru, providing advisory service to its members, which runs Power Stations and Electricity Boards operating from Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telugana and Pudhucherry States. The services include, Modern Technological advice, resolve the problems in Power Generation, Distribution Systems, Power Grid etc. for which, an Operation Coordination sub-committee comprising of members from various power generation bodies are conducting review meeting in Bengaluru, every month.

With the request of SRPC, the 147th OCC meeting was conducted at Learning & Development Center, NLCIL, Neyveli on 10.09.2018. The meeting was inaugurated by Sri V. Thangapandian, Director (Power & Mines), NLCIL, in the presence of Sri S.R. Bhatt, Member-Secretary/SRPC, Sri V. Balaji, Dy. General Manager/Southern Region Load Despatch Center (SRLDC) and VIPs.

In the meeting, representatives from NLC India Limited, National Thermal Power Corporation, Tamilnadu Power Generation and Distribution Corporation, Tamilnadu Power Transmission Corporation, Power Grid Corporation of India, Karnataka Power Generation Corporation, Karnataka Power Distribution Corporation, Chennai Atomic Power Station, Koodangulam Atomic Power Station, NTPC-Tamilnadu Power Ltd, NLC-Tamilnadu Power Ltd., Andhra Pradesh & Telugana Electricity Boards, Kaika Power Station, Hinduja Power Corporation, Coastal Energy Power Ltd.,  Kerala Electricity Board, Udupi Power Corporation, Pudhucherry Electricity Board, National Institute of Wind Energy, Power System Operation Corporation and officers of the SRPC and SRLDC participated.

In his inaugural address, Sri V. Thangapandian said, consumption of power is increasing, when compared to same period of previous year, as the volume of power surrender by Southern Electricity Boards was drastically reduced in the current year.

While, congratulating the NLC India Limited for obtaining the license to trade the surplus power generated by the units, Sri S.R. Bhatt praised the war-front steps taken by the Kerala State Electricity Board, in resolving the power at the flood affected areas. Dr. K. Balaraman, Director-General, National Institute of Wind Energy, as a special invitee participated in the meeting and explained the latest development in Wind Power Generation. Shri A. Ganesan, Executive Director (Commercial), NLCIL participated in the meeting. The meeting ended with Cultural Programmes, held in the evening.
