On November 19, 2024, the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI), under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with H2Global Stiftung to promote green hydrogen initiatives. This agreement aims to enhance knowledge exchange on market-based mechanisms and foster cooperation between India and importing countries, contributing to the global advancement of the green hydrogen economy. The MoU was signed by Shri Sanjay Sharma, Director (Solar) at SECI, and Dr. Susana Moreira, Executive Director of H2Global Stiftung, in the presence of notable officials, including Mr. Timo Bollerhey, CEO of HintCo; Mr. Markus Exenberger, Executive Director of H2Global Foundation; Shri Prashant Kumar Singh, Secretary of MNRE; Shri Abhay Bhakare, Mission Director of the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM); Dr. Prasad Chapekar, Deputy Secretary of MNRE; and Shri K.R. Jyothi Lal, Additional Chief Secretary of Kerala.
This collaboration provides India with an opportunity to work on joint tender design concepts, particularly in structuring joint tenders that align with India’s ambition to become an export hub for green hydrogen and its derivatives. Additionally, the cooperation is expected to offer valuable insights into global hydrogen market dynamics, including trade logistics and stakeholder engagement, which can play a crucial role in advancing India’s green hydrogen initiatives and furthering its renewable energy goals.
