Shri Sameer Verma IAS (Uttar Pradesh 2002), presently Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Uttar Pradesh, is transferred and appointed as Director General – Training, Uttar Pradesh.
Shri Sameer Verma prior to this assignment, was serving as Secretary in the Social Welfare Department, Uttar Pradesh. He brings with him a rich and diverse administrative experience spanning over two decades across various sectors and levels of governance. Academically, Shri Verma holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree , a postgraduate degree in Law (LL.M.) , and a graduate degree in Mathematics reflects a strong foundation in both legal and analytical disciplines, complementing his administrative roles effectively.
Over the course of his career, Shri Verma has held several significant positions. He served as Secretary to the Government in the Department of Social Welfare in Lucknow from April 2022. Earlier, he was Joint Secretary in the same department and also held roles at the central level, including Director and Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development. From 2014 to 2016, he served as Private Secretary to the Minister in the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation.
Shri Verma has also held key field-level responsibilities, serving as District Magistrate and Collector in Mahoba and Hamirpur districts of Uttar Pradesh. His earlier postings include Joint Magistrate roles in Farukhabad and Allahabad, providing him with substantial grassroots governance experience. He began his service with training in 2002 and has since contributed across major areas such as Social Justice and Empowerment, Rural Development, Land Revenue Management, and District Administration.
His appointment as Director General – Training is a recognition of his deep administrative insight and extensive field experience, which are expected to significantly contribute to the training and capacity building of civil servants in Uttar Pradesh.
