Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh, and Union Minister of Culture, Tourism, and the Development of the North Eastern Region, Shri G Kishan Reddy, addressed a side event on the theme ‘Promoting Incredible India through Film Tourism.’ The event took place during the 3rd Tourism Working Group Meeting in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Secretary Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Shri Apurva Chandra, also attended the side event.

The objective of the tourism side event was to explore the potential of film tourism and showcase various aspects of Incredible India. During the event, Dr. Jitendra Singh mentioned that India is on the path to receiving an Oscar, as it has implemented the best film production policies, including the film facilitation process. He emphasized that India has a rich legacy in filmmaking with iconic names like Guru Dutt and Satyajit Ray, who were recognized for their artistry despite the lack of avenues and facilities.

Dr. Singh expressed his hope that the business community would contribute to scaling up the efforts already undertaken by the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.

Furthermore, Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the importance of ease of filmmaking and the upgradation of existing studios to support the film industry. He also highlighted the need for the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to promote the liberalization of state regulations to encourage filmmaking throughout India.
