Shri Pravir Pandey IA&AS (1992) presently Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change has been repatriated to his parent cadre to avail the benefit of promotion.

Shri Pravir Pandey is a distinguished officer of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS), 1992 batch, currently repatriated to his parent cadre, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), to avail the benefit of promotion. Until recently, he served as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

Throughout his career, Shri Pandey has exemplified a balanced blend of administrative depth and visionary leadership. His tenure at the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) since March 2014, initially as Member (Finance) and later as Vice Chairman, has been marked by transformative strides. As Project Director of the Jal Marg Vikas Project (JMVP), he played a pivotal role in reviving riverine transport on the Ganga. Two of the three multimodal terminals envisioned under the project—Varanasi and Sahibganj—have become operational under his watch, signaling a major step forward in sustainable transport infrastructure.

An economist by training, Shri Pandey completed his Master’s degree from the Delhi School of Economics in 1990. He has also enriched his policy and governance expertise through international academic pursuits—at the Civil Service College in ASCOT, UK (1997), Duke University’s Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy (2007–08), and Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government (2015).

In earlier roles, he served as Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs (2002–2007) and held important international assignments in London, Geneva, Manila, and Riyadh. From 2008 to 2011, he served as the Accountant General of Uttarakhand, followed by a diplomatic assignment as Minister in the Embassy of India, Washington DC (2011–2014).

Shri Pandey’s diverse experiences, both in India and abroad, reflect his commitment to public service, financial governance, and developmental policy.
