Shri Prasana R IAS (Chhattisgarh 2004), presently Secretary, Higher Education, Govt of Chhattisgarh, is appointed as Joint Secretary – Ministry of Home Affairs, at Level 14 of the Pay Matrix, on Central Deputation basis for a tenure of five years.

Shri Prasana R, a seasoned Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has demonstrated exemplary leadership and administrative acumen throughout his career. Currently, he has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, where his expertise in personnel management, governance, and policy implementation will play a pivotal role in shaping national security and administrative strategies.

Prior to this prestigious appointment, Shri Prasana R served as Secretary in the Higher Education Department, Government of Chhattisgarh. His tenure was marked by significant reforms in education policy, improving institutional governance, and expanding access to quality education across the state. He also held the position of Secretary in the Department of Health & Family Welfare, where he contributed to the enhancement of medical education and healthcare services. His experience in health administration is extensive, having previously served as Commissioner-Cum-Director and Director of the Health Department, where he played a crucial role in strengthening healthcare infrastructure and policy implementation.

Shri Prasana R has also made remarkable contributions to rural development, having served as Secretary in the Panchayat & Rural Development Department. His initiatives focused on rural housing, employment, and welfare programs, significantly impacting the lives of people in remote areas. Additionally, his tenure as Secretary of the Department of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship was instrumental in fostering vocational training and employment opportunities.

His administrative expertise extends across multiple sectors, including women and child development, cooperative governance, planning and statistics, and science and technology. His ability to navigate diverse domains with efficiency and vision has earned him a distinguished reputation in governance.

His leadership as District Collector in Balrampur, Surguja, Dantewada, and Bijapur was marked by effective land revenue management, district administration, and disaster response. During his tenure as Mission Coordinator for the National Rural Health Mission, he played a vital role in enhancing rural healthcare services. His early career saw him serve in key positions such as Chief Executive Officer of Zila Panchayat and Managing Director of the State Civil Supplies Corporation, where he worked on local governance and food distribution policies.
