India’s Cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 180.80 Cr

More than 3 lakh vaccine doses administered for age group 12-14 years in the last 24 hours

India’s Active caseload declines to 30,799 today; stands at 0.07% of India’s total Positive Cases

2,539 new cases reported in the last 24 hours

Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.73%

Weekly Positivity Rate is presently at 0.42%

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 180.80 Cr (1,80,80,24,147) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 2,12,61,666 sessions.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. In the last 24 hours, more than 3 lakh (3,00,405) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

The break-up of the cumulative figure as per the provisional report till 7 am today include:

Following a continuous downward trend, India’s Active Caseload has further declined to 30,799 today, constituting 0.07% of the country’s total Positive Cases.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.73%. 4,491 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,24,54,546.

2,539 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The last 24 hours saw a total of 7,17,330 COVID-19 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 78.12 Cr (78,12,24,304) cumulative tests.

There has been a sustained fall in the weekly and daily Positivity Rates too. Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 0.42% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 0.35%.

Update on COVID-19 Vaccine Availability in States/UTs

More than 183.24 Crore vaccine doses provided to States/UTs

More than 17.32 Crore balance and unutilized vaccine doses still available with States/UTs

The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country. The nationwide COVID 19 vaccination started on 16^th January 2021. The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from 21^st June 2021. The vaccination drive has been ramped up through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs for enabling better planning by them, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.

As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, Government of India has been supporting the States and UTs by providing them COVID Vaccines free of cost. In the new phase of the universalization of the COVID19 vaccination drive, the Union Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75% of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to States and UTs.

More than 183.24 crore (1,83,24,12,590) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category.

More than 17.32 Cr (17,32,56,632) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.

Dr Mansukh Mandaviya delivers keynote address at webinar on “India’s Public Health Response to manage COVID-19” with NGOs

“India’s strategies of public health response have resulted in better management of Omicron surge compared to many other countries”

“As part of our philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and ‘Shubh Laabh’, India has supported many countries during COVID pandemic with Affordable and Quality Medicines”

“The management of the COVID19 pandemic, and especially the recent Omicron surge, has strongly demonstrated to the world the power of strong political will, self-reliance through Atma Nirbharta, innovation powered by technology, shared goals and collaborative efforts through a “Whole of Government” and “Whole of Society” approach”. This was stated by Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare while delivering the keynote address at a webinar with NITI Aayog and more than 200 NGOs and Civil Society Organizations that have worked at the grassroots during the pandemic. The webinar was titled “India’s Public Health Response to manage COVID-19”.

At the outset, the Union Minister stated that “India’s strategies of public health response have resulted in better management of Omicron surge compared to many other countries”. In a presentation, steps taken by the country demonstrating various timely public health measures were highlighted. At a time when many countries are reporting an increase in number of daily COVID cases, India’s daily cases have reported a substantial decrease, combined with increased recovery rate, and high levels of vaccination. Timely measures including test, track and treat approach with focused genome sequencing, containment through containment zones, community surveillance, protocols for home isolation and effective clinical treatment have in tandem contributed to India’s COVID management.
