The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, is organizing a two-day National Review Conference on May 25th and 26th, 2023. The conference will take place at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre (DAIC) in New Delhi and will involve the participation of Principal Secretaries/Secretaries from all states and union territories (UTs) responsible for social welfare and social justice.
The main focus of the National Review Conference is to discuss the welfare schemes implemented by the department for marginalized sections of society, including Scheduled Castes (SCs), Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Senior Citizens, Victims of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, Transgender Persons, Persons engaged in the act of begging, De-notified and Nomadic Tribes (DNTs), Economically Backward Classes (EBCs), Manual Scavengers, and the Economically Weaker Section (EWS).
During the conference, there will be deliberations on the overview of the schemes, highlighting best practices and innovations from different states and UTs. The objective is to establish better synergy between the states and the central government in terms of implementing, monitoring, and evaluating these schemes at the ground level.
The National Review Conference will be presided over by Dr. Virendra Kumar, Union Minister for the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. It will also be attended by Shri A. Narayanaswamy, Minister of State for the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, and Ms. Pratima Bhoumik, Minister of State for the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. Principal Secretaries/Secretaries from the states and UTs, as well as senior officers from the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, will also be present at the conference.
