Union Minister for MSME Shri Narayan Rane enthusiastically joined the Shramdaan, a cleanliness drive initiated at Juhu Beach, Mumbai by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), echoing the call made by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

In his address to the participants, Shri Rane emphasized that this campaign, rooted in Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings on the paramount importance of cleanliness, seeks to instill a sense of civic responsibility for maintaining a clean and healthy environment. Highlighting Gandhi’s words, ‘Cleanliness is more important than political freedom,’ the Union Minister underscored the critical significance of cleanliness. He echoed Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s sentiments expressed during the launch of the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ in 2014, emphasizing the need to combat uncleanliness and open defecation, advocating for a shift in ingrained habits towards adopting cleanliness as a way of life.

The objective of today’s Shramdaan campaign is to rekindle a nationwide movement for cleanliness. The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has been actively championing this cause, organizing special cleanliness drives and competitions in schools, colleges, and local communities, championing the theme of Shramdaan.

Shri Rane commended KVIC’s proactive involvement in this cleanliness drive at the Prime Minister’s behest. He emphasized that cleanliness is not just the Prime Minister’s responsibility but a shared duty of every member of society. Shri Rane stressed that Cleanliness is not a mere governmental endeavor, but a communal commitment to a wholesome and prosperous life. The Union Minister concluded by urging the public to come together and strive for a Clean India.

Renowned Film Star Shri Suresh Oberoi, local MLA Shri Amit Satam, along with Shri Vineet Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, KVIC, Shri Pankaj Bodhke, Financial Advisor, KVIC, and KVIC officials, joined a large contingent of school students and local residents in this cleanliness campaign. It’s worth noting that the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, through its various schemes and programs, promotes eco-friendly Khadi and Village Industries products.
