Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar has informed that The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has organised the following competitions and awards during the period 2020-21 and 2021-22:

  1. India Skills Competition:IndiaSkills Competition is a biennial event in skill competition involving participation from all over the India. IndiaSkills 2021, National competition was held from 06th to 10th January, 2022 in which participants from 26 States/Union Territories (UTs) displayed their talents in 54 Skills such as beauty therapy, cyber Security, Floor tiling, Robotics system, Cloud Computing, Water Technology, painting and decorating, health and social care etc.
  1. Awards for Excellence in District Skill Development Planning (DSDP):DSDP Award instituted by MSDE in 2018 seeks to recognise the excellence in creating the most functional and innovative DSDP – the district’s plan of action for skilling, matching the demand of skills individuals through targeted supply side intervention, emphasise on inclusion of women and other marginalized groups. All districts of India are eligible to participate in the award. In the DSDP Awards,awards are given to the districts based on the evaluation of their skill development plansand presentations by the shortlisted districts. No competition is held for the purpose.

iii. Kaushalacharya Awards: MSDE has been implementing Kaushalacharya Awards from 2019 with a view to motivating trainers to join the Skill India Mission. It is an annual event that focuses on honouring the skill trainers and the impact created by them on India’s youth. The awards are given in two categories viz Engineering trades and Non-Engineering trades. Each State sends prescribed nomination which are evaluated and the best of them are awarded by the Selection Committee constituted for the purpose. The last two Kaushalacharya awards were organised on 10.09.2020 and 17.09.2021 respectively.

The State wise list of number of participants in the IndiaSkills 2021 is given at Annexure I.The State-wise list of number of participants (districts) in the period of 2020-21 under DSDP Awards is given at Annexure II. Further,92 trainers in the year 2020 and 41 trainers in the year 2021, from diverse backgrounds including experts of WorldSkills Competition winners, trainers from National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs), Industrial Training Centres (ITI), Jan Sikshan Sansthans (JSS) and trainers from reputed Corporate houses such as companies namely Adobe, IBM, Microsoft, Maruti, ONGC, Bosch, Bhel and Aegis were awarded Kaushalacharya awards.

Under IndiaSkills 2021 Competition, 3 awards were given to the North East States which includes participants from Assam, Tripura and Mizoram.Under the DSDP Awards, 3 awards were given to North East states, which includes award given to Sonitpur and Maujli districts from Assam and Gomati district of Tripura. The Kaushalacharya Awards was given to 10 awardees of the North East States during the last three years.
