Kharif Crop Coverage Surpasses 1088 Lakh Hectares

The Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare has issued an update on the area coverage of kharif crops as of September 8, 2023. The report indicates that Shri Anna/Coarse cereals have been sown in a substantial 182 lakh hectares of land, showcasing a significant expansion in cultivation. Additionally, the sugarcane area has reached 59.91 lakh hectares, underlining the diversity of crops being cultivated across the country. The cumulative area covered by kharif crops now exceeds 1088 lakh hectares, reflecting the extensive agricultural activity during this planting season.
