The Indian Air Force (IAF) has launched a Special Campaign for Swachhta, involving all air warriors and civilians in the ‘Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta’ drive. Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, along with senior officers of Air Headquarters in New Delhi, initiated the campaign by cleaning the area along the Motilal Nehru Marg and NDMC parking area. Similar efforts are underway at 750 sites across Air Force Stations in the country. Shramveers (participants in the cleanliness drive) will be recognized after taking the Swachata Pledge on October 2, 2023.

This campaign is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s principle, “Cleanliness is the foundation upon which all other virtues are built.” It aims to elevate overall cleanliness and hygiene standards, promote proper waste disposal, and advocate for the use of recycled products. Air warriors will work collectively to clear out old files and documents to create more office space, while also reviewing and updating outdated rules and policies. The IAF has already taken steps in this direction by implementing e-office and other digital initiatives like IMMOLS and e-MMS. The best practices identified during this campaign will be documented and shared with all IAF units, making it an ongoing process.
