The 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) continues to uphold its legacy of celebrating cinematic excellence while adapting to the changing landscape of the entertainment industry. Acknowledging the surge in digital creativity, the Best Web Series (OTT) Award—introduced during the 54th edition—represents a significant step in recognizing exceptional storytelling on OTT platforms.

This year, the award has seen a notable rise in prominence, with a 40% increase in submissions across 10 major OTT platforms, reflecting the growing importance of web-based content in India’s entertainment ecosystem. Five web series have been shortlisted for their artistic creativity, narrative strength, technical prowess, and cultural significance:

  1. Kota Factory: A slice-of-life drama set in the high-pressure academic environment of Kota, Rajasthan, India’s hub for competitive exam coaching. The series captures the struggles and aspirations of students with poignant storytelling.

  2. Kala Pani: A compelling survival drama set against the picturesque backdrop of the Andaman Islands, exploring themes of family, history, and personal discovery.

Recognition and Awards

The creators, directors, and producers of the winning series, along with the respective OTT platform, will be honored at the ceremony. The award includes a cash prize of ₹10 Lakhs and certificates to celebrate their contributions to the industry.
