The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment marked World Sight Day by organizing various activities at more than 20 locations across the country. The observance included events such as eye checkups, physical seminars, awareness programs, and webinars.
One of the notable events took place at the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) in Hyderabad and CRC Lucknow. These institutions provided free eye checkups to children and their parents. Several other National Institutes, Composite Regional Centres (CRCs), and affiliated institutions also actively participated in observing World Sight Day, contributing to the promotion of eye health awareness and overall well-being.
