Shri Deepak Kumar ISS (2013), presently in cadre with Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, is appointed as Deputy Secretary – NITI Aayog, Delhi under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of four years.
NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) is the Indian government’s premier policy think tank. Established in 2015, it replaced the Planning Commission, shifting focus from a top-down to a bottom-up approach to development. Its structure comprises a Governing Council with state Chief Ministers, a Vice-Chairperson, and experts. NITI Aayog’s roles include fostering cooperative federalism, designing strategic and long-term policies, and monitoring implementation. It advises on national and international issues, promotes innovation, and acts as a knowledge hub, driving India’s socio-economic progress through collaborative and evidence-based policymaking.
