IndianBureaucracy National News –  ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) received CNN-News18 Indian of the Year Award, for Outstanding Achievement in 2023, event in New Delhi. Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science & Technology, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space conferred the award . ISRO Chairman S. Somnath and Chandrayaan-3 Project Director Dr P. Veeramuthuvel received the award.

The award acknowledged ISRO’s role in advancing space exploration, specifically for the successful soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon’s South Polar region. It also highlighted the mission’s emphasis on being indigenous and cost-effective, with a budget of Rs. 600 Crore.

Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the extensive engagement of over 10,000 spectators, 1,000 media persons, and a substantial number of citizens during the Aditya launch and the Chandrayaan-3 lunar landing, becoming a national frenzy. He also noted the noteworthy growth in the private space sector, with 190 private Space Startups and an investment exceeding Rs. 1,000 crore in the current financial year.
