In an important development a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between DFCCIL’s Centre for Heavy Haul Rail Research (HHI) & Development, and Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) in New Delhi.
The new collaboration aims to drive advancements in research, development, and training,
with a focus on establishing “Centre of Excellence” at the Heavy Haul Institute and Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya. The MoU was formally signed in the esteemed presence of Shri
Praveen Kumar, Managing Director of DFCCIL, Professor Dr. Manoj Chaudhary, Vice-chancellor of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya and other senior officials of DFCCIL. To add to the celebration, 5 students from Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya have joined DFCCIL through campus placements, demonstrating the strong synergy between academia and industry.
Together, DFCCIL and Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya are paving the way for innovation and
excellence in the transportation and logistics sector.
DFCCIL & South Asian University to collaborate on education & training Today, Shree Praveen Kumar, MD, DFCCIL, also interacted with Prof KK Aggarwal, President of South Asian University (SAU) for cooperation in the field of education and training. Thereafter, both dignitaries jointly launched the new website of the South Asian University. The event was graced by the presence of Colonel Mayank Upadhya, General Manager, Training, HHI Institute of DFCCIL.
Dedicated Freight Corridor: Transforming Freight Transportation
The Heavy Haul Institute (HHI) of DFCCIL is a world class facility situated in Noida which
serves as a hub for continuous learning. The current infrastructure accommodates over 240
students and supports the national quest for an efficient & sustainable rail freight
transportation in the country.
DFCCIL is now running nearly 380 trains daily across the Dedicated Freight Corridors
network. To date, the DFC has facilitated an impressive 2.71 lakh train trips across both
corridors. Although DFC covers just 4% of India’s rail network, it already handles more than 14% of the total freight carried by Indian Railways. As of December 2024 the DFCCIL
recorded an average of 577 million gross tonne kilometers (GTKMs) per day on the network, reflecting a growth of approximately 55% YoY.
