The Income Tax Department has established the Taxpayers’ Lounge at the India International Trade Fair 2024, being held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, from November 14 to 27, 2024. Continuing its tradition, the Lounge was inaugurated by Shri Ravi Agrawal, Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), in the presence of CBDT Board Members and senior Income Tax Department officials. On this occasion, five informational brochures on various aspects of direct taxation were also released to facilitate taxpayer understanding and engagement.

Built around the theme ‘विकसित भारत में मेरी भागीदारी, मेरा आयकर मेरी ज़िम्मेदारी’ (“My contribution in developed India, my income tax is my responsibility”), the Lounge emphasizes the pivotal role of taxpayers in building a modern India. It aims to raise awareness about taxpayer services and educate citizens on their rights and responsibilities. The pavilion’s design reflects India’s vision of emerging as a global leader by 2047, aligning with the aspirations of Viksit Bharat (Developed India).

The Lounge offers numerous taxpayer-centric services, such as assistance with PAN/e-PAN applications, Aadhaar-PAN linking, e-filing, TDS, international taxation queries, faceless assessment, and grievance redressal via e-Nivaran. To promote awareness among children, a dedicated Children’s Corner features interactive activities like board games, VR experiences, digital comic books, and the “Aaycar” game, introducing taxation concepts in an engaging way.

Additionally, the Lounge hosts various entertainment and educational events, including street plays (Nukkad Natak), quizzes, drawing and painting competitions, and magic shows centered on taxation and nation-building themes.

The Taxpayers’ Lounge serves as a testament to the Income Tax Department’s commitment to e-governance, taxpayer facilitation, and fostering a sense of partnership with honest taxpayers in India’s developmental journey.
