As a part of its CSR initiative, Apraava Energy (formally CLP India), in partnership with SELCO Foundation, has benefitted nearly 60,000 people in disadvantaged communities through its five-year solar development program. The initiative that spans around 40 villages, resulted in reduction of over 130 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, equivalent to planting 6,500 trees each year.
The program, spanning across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, and Telangana, has significantly improved safety in schools. Consistent electricity supply in healthcare centers has ensured uninterrupted operation of essential facilities such as labor rooms, baby warmers, and vaccine cold supply chains. Solar-based fans and lighting in Anganwadis have provided village children with access to quality early education. Digital education kits like E-Shala have improved learning quality and increased enrollment, benefiting both students and teachers. Additionally, solar-powered appliances such as fridges, copiers, scanners, printers, and roti-rolling machines have created employment opportunities for differently-abled individuals and women.
Apraava Energy, a joint venture between the CLP Group and the global investment group CDPQ (Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec), has an operational portfolio of renewable energy, including solar and wind, totaling 1,312.6 MW. These projects are spread across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Karnataka.
Recently, Apraava Energy secured significant bids for new greenfield interstate transmission projects in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. These projects involve establishing approximately 40 kilometers of 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines alongside a 3,000 MVA substation in Madhya Pradesh, and a 250-MW solar energy project from state-owned NHPC Ltd. in Rajasthan.
