Shri Arjit Mahajan IAS (Assam Meghalaya 2022), presently Sub-Divisional Officer – Dibrugarh, Assam, is transferred and appointed as Additional District Commissioner in-charge, Bijni, Assam.

A graduate of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, Shri Mahajan holds a B.Tech. degree in Production and Industrial Engineering, where he graduated with First Division. His technical academic background equips him with a structured, analytical approach to problem-solving — a trait that continues to shape his work as an administrator.

Shri Mahajan began his civil service journey on December 5, 2021, and has already demonstrated considerable capability in field postings. Most recently, he served as the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) in Dibrugarh, one of Assam’s most significant districts in terms of economy, culture, and connectivity. In this role, he played a key part in ensuring smooth public service delivery, coordination of law and order, and implementation of developmental schemes at the sub-divisional level.

With a keen interest in grassroots governance and citizen-centric administration, Shri Mahajan has earned appreciation for his proactive approach, administrative efficiency, and people-first attitude. His engineering background provides a unique edge in planning and optimizing district resources, infrastructure development, and implementing technology-driven governance models.

As the Additional District Commissioner in-charge of Bijni, Shri Mahajan is expected to oversee critical functions of district administration including land management, revenue affairs, disaster response, and coordination of welfare schemes. His appointment comes at a time when Bijni, part of the Bodoland Territorial Region, is undergoing socio-economic transformation, and his leadership is likely to contribute meaningfully to inclusive development and administrative strengthening in the area.
