Ms. Shilpa Dyavaiah IPS (Kerala 2016) appointed as Superintendent of Police (SP) in CBI for a period of five years .
Ms Shilpa Dyavaiah, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer has built a commendable career in law enforcement. Born on November 22, 1982, in Karnataka, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and an MBA. Before joining the civil services, she gained corporate experience as a Business Analyst with Tata Consultancy Services which provided her with a strong analytical foundation.
After joining the IPS, she took on key law enforcement roles, serving as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Kasaragod and Kannur, where she was involved in critical investigations, including the Koodathayi cyanide murder case. She later served as Commandant of the Kerala Women Police Battalion, promoting gender inclusivity in policing. In 2020, she became the first woman Superintendent of Police (SP) of Kasaragod, leading the district’s response during the COVID-19 pandemic and overseeing law enforcement operations effectively.
Her tenure as the District Police Chief of Kottayam saw her handling law-and-order challenges and ensuring the smooth conduct of assembly elections. Recognizing her investigative acumen, she was inducted as Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in March 2025.
