Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, recently visited the Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy (PCIM&H) in Ghaziabad. During his visit, he inaugurated the “e-Office portal of PCIM&H” and the “Online portal” for selling softcopies of pharmacopoeial monographs.

The Minister took the opportunity to inspect various laboratories at PCIM&H, including Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry, Microbiology, the herbal garden, and the raw drug repository of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homoeopathic (ASU&H) drugs.

PCIM&H, which operates under the Ministry of Ayush, is actively involved in the standardization and quality control of ASU&H drugs. It publishes the standards in the form of Pharmacopoeias.

During his address, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal commended the remarkable work being done by PCIM&H to maintain the quality of ASU&H drugs. He expressed satisfaction with the team of learned scientists and technical staff at the commission. The Minister also emphasized the global acceptance of yoga and its role in managing lifestyle diseases and preventing illnesses.

Dr. Kousthubha Upadhyaya, Adviser (Ayurveda) Ministry of Ayush, and Dr. Raman Mohan Singh, Director of PCIM&H, were present during the Minister’s visit.

In addition to inaugurating the e-Office portal and online portal for selling pharmacopoeial monographs, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal also released the Monthly Newsletters published by PCIM&H. These newsletters highlight the commission’s activities and serve as a way to update stakeholders on new developments in the field of quality control and standardization of ASU&H drugs.
