Indian Naval ships Delhi and Satpura, led by Rear Admiral Gurcharan Singh, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, arrived in Da Nang, Vietnam on May 19, 2023, as part of the Indian Navy’s deployment to ASEAN countries. The Vietnam People’s Navy extended a warm welcome to the visiting ships.
The primary objective of the visit is to strengthen bilateral ties and enhance cooperation between the Indian and Vietnamese navies. During the visit, personnel from both navies will engage in a wide range of professional interactions, including deck visits, social interactions, and sports fixtures, to foster stronger bonds of friendship.
Prior to their arrival in Vietnam, the Indian Naval ships Delhi and Satpura participated in the inaugural ASEAN-India Maritime Exercise (AIME). The exercise aimed to promote maritime cooperation and build trust and confidence among the participating navies from ASEAN countries and the Indian Navy.
As part of the visit, the Indian Navy ships are scheduled to conduct joint exercises at sea with the Vietnam People’s Navy. These exercises will provide an opportunity for sharing best practices and enhancing interoperability between the two navies.
