NLC India Limited with the support of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), installed Solar Power Projects at the open terrace of the 7 Office buildings in Neyveli at a cost of Rs.5.49 Crore. Of this, one project was commissioned by Shri Rakesh Kumar, Chairman (i/c) & Director (Finance) on 31.08.2018.

Government of India has fixed a target of producing 1.75 MW through Renewable Energy System by the year 2025. As part of this National objective, NLC India has committed to produce 4251 MW through Solar and Wind Power. As part of this plan, NLC India had already commissioned 491 MW through Green Energy Units, installed at Tirunelveli and Virudhunagar Districts, besides Neyveli. The projects are under progress at various places in Tirunelveli, Virudhunagar and Ramanathapuram Districts, to produce 909 MW, under Solar Power.

To increase the Solar Power Projects, NLC India had planned to install the Solar panels over the open terrace of the official buildings at Neyveli. Under its Phase-I, the implementation of solar power projects are under progress with a total production capacity of 1067 KW installed at Corporate Office, Central Technical Office, Public Relation Office, Guest House, Mines’ Office Material Management Complex, Township Administration Building, at a cost of Rs.5.49 Crore.

The above projects are awarded to M/s. Enrich Energy, Pune through M/s. Rajasthan Electronic and Instruments Limited (REIL), Jaipur, the implementing agency for Ministry of Coal. Of the total cost, Rs.4.12 Crore, would be borne by NLC India Ltd., and the balance 25 % of the cost would be the subsidy provided by MNRE.

The projects implemented in CTO building, under Phase-I was commissioned by     Shri Rakesh Kumar, Chairman (i/c) and Director (Finance) on 31.08.2018.         Shri V. Thangapandian, Director (Power) & Director (Mines), Shri Nathella Naga Maheswar Rao, Director (Planning & Projects) and Senior officials were present on the occasion. Also, the Solar Panels installed over the PRO and Guest House Building was commissioned on 01.09.2018. Rest of the projects would be commissioned at the end of this month.

In Phase-II, it is under proposal to install solar panels at General Hospital, Schools comprising of 30 non-residential buildings at Neyveli with a production capacity of 4 MW. Also the discussions are moving on with the respective authorities at Karnataka, Odissa, Madhya Pradesh & Andhra Pradesh for the proposed Solar Power Project, to be implemented, near the Railway Stations, with a total installed capacity of 2850 MW.
