Union Minister for Civil Aviation and Steel to inaugurate Rs. 170 Cr infra upgrades at Tezu Airport

Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, and Shri Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, are set to inaugurate the newly developed infrastructure at Tezu Airport on September 24, 2023.

Tezu Airport, situated in the town of Tezu, is a domestic airport encompassing 212 acres of land and equipped to handle operations for ATR 72 type aircraft. At the request of the State Government, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) undertook development and upgradation work totaling Rs. 170 Crores. The comprehensive upgrades include the extension of the runway to 1500m x 30m, construction of a new apron accommodating two ATR 72 type aircraft, the creation of a modern terminal building, and a combined fire station and Air Traffic Control Tower.

Tezu Airport was brought into operational service in 2018 under the RCS UDAN scheme of the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Currently, it offers regular scheduled flights to Dibrugarh, Imphal, and Guwahati through Alliance Air and Flybig Airline.

The inauguration ceremony signifies a significant milestone in the development of Tezu Airport, enhancing connectivity and accessibility for the region. Both Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia and Chief Minister Pema Khandu will grace the event with their presence.
