Ms. Sujata Chaturvedi IAS (Bihar 1989) presently Secretary- Department of Sports given additional charge as Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment upon relinquishment
of the charge of the post by Ms. Sumita Dawra IAS (Andhra Pradesh 1991).

Smt. Sujata Chaturvedi, an esteemed officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from the AGMUT cadre, has had an illustrious career spanning over three decades. Currently serving as the Secretary of the Department of Sports, she has been entrusted with the additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, further demonstrating her administrative acumen and leadership.

Smt. Chaturvedi began her career in public administration as a Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) in Darbhanga in 1991. She then served in various capacities, including Deputy Development Commissioner at the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) in Begusarai and later in Sahibganj. Her early years in administration were marked by a strong commitment to grassroots governance and rural development.

Her expertise in governance and public administration saw her rise to significant positions, including District Collector and Magistrate in Giridih and Buxar, where she played a pivotal role in land revenue management and district administration. She also held key roles in the Home Department, Finance Department, and Health and Family Welfare, where her strategic vision and policy formulation skills were widely recognized.

She contributed significantly to urban development as Vice Chairman of the Patna Regional Development Authority and Director in the Urban Development Department at the Centre. Her tenure as Director of Information & Broadcasting further highlighted her versatility in handling diverse administrative responsibilities.

A key milestone in her career was her appointment as Regional Deputy Director General at the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), where she played a crucial role in the implementation of Aadhaar, a transformative initiative in digital governance. Following this, she served as the Commercial Tax Commissioner and later as Principal Secretary in the Finance Department, demonstrating her financial expertise and leadership in revenue management.

Smt. Chaturvedi’s central deputation included a notable tenure as Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training, where she contributed to shaping policies in public administration and human resource management. Her current role as Secretary in the Department of Sports underscores her ability to drive reforms and initiatives in youth affairs and sports development.

With her additional charge as Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Smt. Chaturvedi continues to exemplify dedication, efficiency, and an unwavering commitment to public service. Her extensive experience across multiple domains, from finance and urban development to sports and labour administration, reflects her versatility and expertise.
