Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, spoke at the ‘Campus Dialogue’ on Chandrayaan-3 at the Central University of Jammu. During his keynote address, he highlighted the significant progress in India’s space research, emphasizing that after the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission, “the sky is not the limit” for India’s space journey.

Dr. Singh credited the growth in India’s space sector, with the space economy reaching $8 billion, to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to unlock the space sector. He mentioned that India’s space economy is projected to grow beyond $40 billion by 2040 and has the potential to surpass $100 billion by that time.

The minister emphasized the transformative decisions taken by the government, creating a supportive ecosystem and opening the space sector for public-private participation. He noted the swift increase in the number of space startups and the government’s mission to establish Space Technology Teaching Centres in higher education institutions. ISRO Teaching Centres have been set up at institutions like the Central University of Jammu and NIT, Agartala.

Dr. Jitendra Singh also highlighted the National Education Policy 2020, stating that it empowers India’s youth to freely choose or change subjects based on their aptitude, skills, interests, and other factors. The minister’s address aimed to inspire and engage students and academia in discussions about India’s achievements in space exploration and the possibilities for the future.
