SJVN has been conferred with 8th CIDC Vishwakarma Awards 2016 in the category ‘Achievement Award for Social Development & Impact’ and ‘Partners in Progress’. These awards have been conferred upon SJVN for its outstanding contribution and initiatives in the area of Health & Hygiene, Education & Skill development, Infrastructural development, and Sustainable development under its
Corporate Social Responsibility. These awards have been received by Sh. N.L. Sharma, Director (Personnel) and Sh. D P Kaushal, AGM (CSR) in a function held at India Habitat Center, New Delhi.
On this occasion, Shri Nand Lal Sharma, Director (Personnel) said that in the last five years more than 2000 local youth have been trained in the vocational trades namely Welder, Electrician, Site Accountant, Cutting & Tailoring, Hospitality, Bed side Attendant etc. In the area of health SJVN is operating 12 Mobile health vans in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Maharashtra and Bihar and more than 3 Lakh patients have benefitted from these Health Vans. In addition SJVN has conducted more than 100 specialized Health camps in remote locations of its project areas. SJVN is also active in construction of community assets like Panchayat Ghar, Mahila Mandal, Community Halls, and Playgrounds etc. and during last five years SJVN has constructed more than 200 Community assets. To turn the dream of “Swatcch Vidyalaya Abhiyaan” of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India into reality, SJVN has constructed 2421 toilets at an estimated expenditure of around Rs. 23 crores in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand. .
Mr. Sharma also informed that four employees of SJVN namely; Sh. Vijay Kumar, JE (Mech), Balwinder Kumar, Technician (Fitter), Bhagwan Das, Technician (Turner), Rajesh Kumar (Welder) all posted in largest underground Hydro Power Station NJHPS have been conferred with Achievement Award for Artisans & Supervisors.
He also said that, Hydro Power is the core strength of SJVN and the Company has the distinction of implementing India’s largest 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station in Himachal Pradesh. The Company’s other two projects namely 412 MW Rampur HE Project in Himachal Pradesh and 47.6 MW Khirvire Wind Power Project in Maharashtra are already in operation. SJVN is implementing 12 other projects in Nepal, Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Bihar, Gujarat and Maharashtra. SJVN which has already diversified in the field of Wind Power, Thermal Power and Power Transmission is presently generating 2000 MW of electricity.
