BEML Limited, formerly known as Bharat Earth Movers Limited, was established in May 1964 as a Public Sector Undertaking for manufacturing rail coaches, spare parts, and mining equipment at its Bangalore Complex. The company is listed on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), with the Government of India holding a 54.03% stake, while the remaining 45.97% is owned by financial institutions, foreign institutional investors, banks, the public, and employees. Initially, the factory was under the administrative control of Hindustan Aircraft Limited (now Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) before being transferred to BEML Limited on May 11, 1964.
