REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) and one of the foremost Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has been conferred with the prestigious ASSOCHAM CSR & Sustainability Award 2024. The award was presented in the category of ‘Excellence in Providing Support to Healthcare’, in recognition of REC’s impactful contributions to the healthcare sector through its focused CSR efforts.
The award was presented at the 6th edition of the ASSOCHAM CSR and Sustainability Conference and Awards, held in Hyderabad. Receiving the award on behalf of REC was Shri Anjan Lahiri, Senior General Manager and Head of Department (REC Foundation). The award was handed over by the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, Shri Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, in the presence of distinguished industry leaders and policymakers.
This accolade is a testament to REC’s continued commitment to driving inclusive development and addressing critical societal needs through its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. Through the REC Foundation, the company has been actively involved in supporting the healthcare ecosystem—focusing on infrastructure development, accessibility to medical services, and improving health outcomes, especially in underserved and rural regions of the country.
The recognition by ASSOCHAM reflects not only REC’s strategic focus on healthcare support but also its broader commitment to sustainable development. REC’s CSR approach is guided by a vision to uplift communities and promote equitable growth across sectors such as education, health, sanitation, skill development, women empowerment, and rural infrastructure.
Notably, this is not the first time REC’s CSR efforts have been recognized at the national level. In the previous year, the company was also honoured by ASSOCHAM for its exemplary initiatives in Aspirational Districts, with particular attention to projects supporting Divyangjan (persons with disabilities). These recognitions collectively underscore REC’s strong presence and leadership in the CSR landscape.
Further solidifying its position among the top CSR contributors in India, REC has been ranked 4th among all Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) for CSR expenditure, as per the Public Enterprise Survey Report 2023–24, published by the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), Government of India.
As REC continues to expand its CSR footprint, it remains steadfast in its mission to empower communities and promote inclusive progress. The organization’s efforts are deeply rooted in its belief that sustained development is only possible when social responsibility is integrated into the core of business practices.
This latest recognition from ASSOCHAM reaffirms REC’s position as a responsible corporate citizen and a driving force in building a healthier, more equitable India.
