Shri Ranjan Prakash Thakur IRTS (1990) presently CVO- Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC), Delhi given extension of deputation tenure for a period upto 31.08.2026 (i.e. upto the date of his superannuation) .
Shri Ranjan Prakash Thakur is a seasoned civil servant and accomplished administrator, presently serving as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) since April 29, 2022. With a distinguished career spanning multiple sectors—including energy, transportation, media, and state administration—Mr. Thakur brings a rare depth of insight and leadership to every role he undertakes.
Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Thakur served as the Principal Secretary for Industry, Commerce, and Aviation in the Government of Jammu & Kashmir (2021–2022), where he played a key role in promoting investment and industrial development in the Union Territory. In 2021, he was appointed Executive Director (Fuel Transportation) at NTPC, where he contributed to streamlining logistics and enhancing fuel supply efficiency.
A graduate of the prestigious St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, Mr. Thakur is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore. He also holds an Executive MBA from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) and has earned a Diploma in Multi-Modal Transport from Germany—credentials that reflect his strong academic grounding and international perspective.
Mr. Thakur’s extensive tenure with the Indian Railways included significant leadership roles such as Director/Passenger Marketing and Director Coordination at the Ministry of Railways (2002–2007). He later served as Private Secretary to the Minister of Tourism & Culture and Information & Broadcasting (2007–2012), where his keen understanding of public communication and governance was especially valuable. From 2012 to 2014, he was Additional Director-General at Doordarshan, India’s national broadcaster.
His subsequent appointments further reinforced his stature as a reliable and forward-thinking administrator. As Executive Director in the Ministry of Railways (2015–2017), Divisional Railway Manager, Patna/Danapur (2017–2020), and Chief Safety Officer (2020), Mr. Thakur consistently demonstrated a commitment to operational excellence, public accountability, and institutional integrity.
