Shri Rajnesh Singh IRSME (2003) appointed as CVO- Gas Authority of India Ltd. (GAIL), Delhi under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas for a period upto 21.03.2028 (combined deputation tenure of 7 years in CSS and Non-CSS posts put together) .
He graduated with Honours in Mechanical Engineering from MNNIT Allahabad in 1999. Over the past two decades, he has accumulated extensive experience across multiple sectors, including BPCL, Indian Railways, two Ministries, and two Autonomous Bodies. Currently, he serves as a Governing Council Member at ARAI, Pune, and the Automotive Skill Development Council.
His professional journey began at Bharat Petroleum (1999-2003), where he gained valuable experience in Sales, Operations, Safety, and ERP implementation. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in helping BPCL become the first PSU in India to adopt SAP in 2001, driving transformative changes in the organization.
In 2003, he transitioned to Indian Railways, where he spent 16 years handling diverse responsibilities across field organizations in the Chakradharpur, Ranchi, and Kharagpur Divisions of SE Railways, working in challenging regions of Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha. His experience at Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi, further enriched his expertise in locomotive design and vendor development. Throughout his tenure, he specialized in Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Works Contracts, Locomotive Design, Vendor Development, Train Operations and Safety, Rolling Stock Maintenance, Disaster Management, and Industrial Relations.
From 2019 to 2021, he served in the Railway Board, Ministry of Railways, as Director (C&IS). In this role, he chaired the Task Force on e-office implementation across Indian Railways, a critical e-governance initiative that revolutionized the work culture by enhancing transparency and efficiency. He was instrumental in framing policies related to Information Security, Computerization, and ICT. Additionally, he led the deployment of “Microsoft Teams” during the COVID-19 lockdown, enabling over 30,000 virtual meetings and ensuring smooth train operations during a period of unprecedented disruption.
Since 2021, he has been with the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), overseeing the Automobile Engineering Industry (AEI) Division as Director (Auto). He is responsible for leading two flagship Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Schemes—one for Automobiles and Auto Components and another for Advanced Chemistry Cells—aimed at promoting Advanced Automotive Technology Products and establishing manufacturing facilities for ACC Cells in India. Additionally, he serves as Director (Finance and Admin) at the National Automotive Board (NAB), further contributing to the sector’s growth and policy development.
In addition to his extensive professional experience, he pursued the Advanced Management Programme in Public Policy (AMPPP) in 2024 from ISB, Mohali/Hyderabad, a flagship leadership development program. Through this program, he honed his skills in evidence-based research, leadership, teamwork, effective communication, and ethical responsibility.
