Indian Bureaucracy, Punjab-Chandigarh, May 04, 2025| The Punjab state government issued a notification (dt 03.05.2025) regarding transfer of ten (10) Punjab Police officials, including nine (9) Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. The appointments include a new Director General of Police for the State Human Rights Commission, Additional Directors General of Police for Intelligence, NRI Affairs, DIG for Technical Services, as well as new Deputy Inspectors General for the Bathinda and Patiala Ranges. A detailed list of the officers with their current and new assignments is provided below.
- Shri Varinder Kumar IPS (Punjab 1993), presently awaiting posting, is appointed as the Special Director General of Police (DGP) – Punjab State Human Rights Commission (SHRC), Chandigarh.
- Shri Praveen Kumar Sinha IPS (Punjab 1994), presently ADGP, NRI Affairs, Punjab, with additional charge of ADGP, Intelligence, Punjab, and, Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau, Punjab, is transferred and appointed as ADGP – Intelligence, Punjab, with additional charge of Chief Director – Vigilance Bureau, Punjab.
- Shri Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal IPS (Punjab 1997), presently awaiting posting is appointed as ADGP – NRI Affairs, Punjab, relieving Shri Praveen Kumar Sinha IPS.
- Shri Kuldeep Singh Chahal IPS (Punjab 2009), presently awaiting posting is appointed as DIG – Technical Services, Punjab, Chandigarh.
- Shri Harjeet Singh IPS (Punjab 2010), presently DIG, Bathinda Range, Bathinda, Punjab, is transferred and appointed as DIG – Training, Punjab, Chandigarh, with
additional charge of DIG – Bathinda Range, Bathinda, Punjab. - Shri Nanak Singh IPS (Punjab 2011), presently Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patiala, Punjab, is transferred and appointed as DIG – Patiala Range, Patiala, Punjab.
- Shri Varun Sharma IPS (Punjab 2014), presently AIG, Provisioning, Punjab, Chandigarh,
with additional charge of SSP, Sadak Surakhya Force, Punjab, Chandigarh, is transferred and appointed as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) – Patiala, relieving Shri Nanak Singh IPS. - Shri Tushar Gupta IPS (Punjab 2018), presently awaiting posting is appointed as AIG – Provisioning, Punjab, Chandigarh, with additional charge of SSP – Sadak Surakhya Force, Punjab, Chandigarh, relieving Shri Varun Sharma IPS.
- Shri Maninder Singh IPS (Punjab 2019), presently Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Amritsar Rural, is transferred and appointed as AIG – Welfare, Punjab, Chandigarh, with additional charge of SSP – Amritsar Rural, Punjab.
- Shri Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh PPS, presently awaiting posting is appointed as AIG – NRI Affairs, Jalandhar, with additional charge of Commandant – In-Service Training Centre (ISTC), Kapurthala, Punjab.
