Shri Prabhakar IAS (Sikkim 2007) has been empanelled for holding the post of Joint Secretary at the Centre.
Shri Prabhakar, IAS, has had an illustrious career marked by dedication, strategic leadership, and an unwavering commitment to public service. His journey in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) has seen him handle diverse and challenging roles with great efficiency, contributing significantly to governance, law and justice, elections, and district administration across different states.
His career began with training in 2007, following which he was appointed as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in West Sikkim (June 2008 – November 2014). In this role, he played a crucial part in land revenue management and disaster mitigation, ensuring effective governance and public welfare initiatives in the region. His deep understanding of administrative functions and grassroots governance helped streamline operations and improve governance outcomes.
Recognizing his leadership potential, he was appointed as District Collector in Sikkim (November 2014 – March 2019). During his tenure, he was instrumental in strengthening district administration, implementing developmental programs, and improving public service delivery. His ability to handle complex administrative challenges with efficiency made a significant impact on the governance of the region.
In April 2019, he was entrusted with the highly responsible position of Chief Electoral Officer (April 2019 – December 2019), where he oversaw election management, ensuring free, fair, and transparent electoral processes. His meticulous planning and execution of electoral procedures reinforced the democratic framework and strengthened voter confidence in the system.
Following his commendable performance, he was appointed on Inter-Cadre Deputation to Bihar (December 2019 – present), taking on key roles to support governance and administrative functions in the state. His ability to adapt to new challenges and effectively manage state-level responsibilities has been widely appreciated.
Currently serving as Director in Bihar, Shri Prabhakar continues to demonstrate visionary leadership and a results-oriented approach, contributing significantly to the state’s development and administrative efficiency.
