Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Global Maritime India Summit 2023, commencing on the 17th of October, 2023. This prestigious event is scheduled from the 17th to the 19th of October and will be hosted at the MMRDA Grounds in Mumbai.

Vision 2047: During the inaugural program, Prime Minister Modi will introduce the ‘Amrit Kaal Vision 2047’, a comprehensive blueprint designed for the long-term development of the Indian maritime blue economy. This visionary plan encompasses strategic initiatives aimed at advancing port facilities, advocating sustainable practices, and promoting international collaboration.

Projects Worth Over Rs. 23,000 Crore: In alignment with this forward-looking roadmap, the Prime Minister will inaugurate, dedicate to the nation, and lay the foundation stone for projects valued at over Rs 23,000 crore. These projects are intricately linked with the ‘Amrit Kaal Vision 2047’, setting the stage for the progress of the Indian maritime blue economy.

Tuna Tekra Deep Draft Terminal: Prime Minister Modi will also perform the ceremonial groundbreaking for the Tuna Tekra all-weather deep draft terminal, an ambitious project estimated to cost more than Rs. 4,500 crore. Located at Deendayal Port Authority in Gujarat, this state-of-the-art greenfield terminal will be developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The terminal is expected to evolve into a global trade hub, facilitating next-generation vessels with a capacity exceeding 18,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). It is poised to serve as a vital gateway for Indian trade within the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC).

More Than 300 MoUs for Global and National Partnerships: Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate over 300 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) valued at more than 7 lakh crore, fostering partnerships on both the global and national fronts in the maritime sector.

International Participation: The Global Maritime India Summit 2023 stands as the most significant maritime event in the country. This grand gathering will welcome esteemed Ministers representing numerous countries across the globe, spanning Europe, Africa, South America, Asia (including Central Asia, the Middle East, and the BIMSTEC region). The summit will also draw participation from global CEOs, prominent business leaders, investors, officials, and other stakeholders from around the world. Distinguished dignitaries from various Indian states will also be in attendance, including Ministers and other representatives.

Discussion on Key Maritime Sector Issues: Over the course of three days, the summit will engage in insightful discussions on critical issues in the maritime sector. These discussions will cover a wide spectrum of topics, including the future of ports, decarbonization, coastal shipping and inland water transportation, shipbuilding, repair, and recycling, as well as finance, insurance, and arbitration. Other subjects under deliberation will include maritime clusters, innovation and technology, maritime safety and security, and maritime tourism, among many others.

Attracting Investment: The summit will also serve as an exceptional platform for attracting investments into the Indian maritime sector.
