The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has committed to working with India to expand the Travel for LiFE initiative across the Asia-Pacific region. The commitment was made during the 46th edition of the PATA Travel Mart 2023, hosted by India from October 4 to October 6 in New Delhi. The event, which saw the participation of around 1,000 delegates, serves as a major international trade exhibition for the tourism sector, facilitating trade interactions between global buyers and sellers.

The Travel for LiFE initiative, initiated by the Ministry of Tourism in India, aligns with the philosophy of the Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), a global mass movement urging individuals and communities to act for the protection of the environment against the effects of climate change. The Travel for LiFE program aims to bring about large-scale behavioral changes among tourists and tourism businesses, promoting sustainability and responsible tourism practices.

As part of the collaboration, the Ministry of Tourism will set up a PATA desk to strengthen engagement with PATA on Travel for LiFE and other areas of cooperation in the tourism sector. This partnership with PATA marks a significant step for the Travel for LiFE program, which aims to position India as a leader in promoting sustainable and responsible tourism and contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
