Indian Bureaucracy, New Delhi, March 28, 2025 | The Indian government has appointed Executive Directors to public sector insurers, Oriental Insurance and New India Assurance. New India Assurance, founded in 1919 and headquartered in Mumbai, is a market leader with a Gross Written Premium (GWP) exceeding ₹30,000 crore. Oriental Insurance, established in 1947 and based in New Delhi, reports a GWP of ₹15,000-₹20,000 crore. Both companies, under government oversight, hold substantial investment portfolios and contribute to India’s economy. Their financial stability is supported by robust asset bases and reinsurance.

Ms Rekha K Solanki, presently General Manager, Oriental Insurance Company Limited, appointed as Executive Director – Oriental Insurance Company Limited, in level 14A (pay scale Rs. 1,76,800-2,24,000), for a period up to her attaining superannuation 31.05.2027. Ms Solanki has been recognized for her contributions to the company, including receiving an award from the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) as one of the top sellers, presented by Ms. Anupriya Patel, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry. In August 2023, Ms. Solanki, alongside Chairman-cum-Managing Director Shri R.R. Singh, inaugurated OICL’s Corporate Business Office in Ahmedabad, aimed at enhancing services for corporate clients. She was selected as ED by FSIB after rigorous selection process in Oct, 2024.

Shri Mathew George, presently General Manager, Oriental Insurance Company Limited, appointed as Executive Director – Oriental Insurance Company Limited, in level 14A (pay scale Rs. 1,76,800-2,24,000), for a period up to her attaining superannuation 31.08.2026.

Ms  Sreedevi Sreedharan Nair, presently General Manager, New India Assurance Company Limited, appointed as Executive Director – National Insurance Company Limited, in level 14A (pay scale Rs. 1,76,800-2,24,000), for a period up to her attaining superannuation 31.05.2026. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Cochin University of Science and Technology. With around 34 years of experience in the company, Ms. Nair has held various positions, including Regional Manager and Deputy General Manager. In November 2024, she was appointed as the Chief Underwriting Officer of The New India Assurance Company Limited. As of March 21, 2025, Ms. Nair ceased her roles as General Manager and Chief Underwriting Officer following her elevation to the position of Executive Director at National Insurance Company Limited.

Ms Kasturi Sengupta, presently General Manager, New India Assurance Company Limited, appointed as Executive Director – National Insurance Company Limited, in level 14A (pay scale Rs. 1,76,800-2,24,000), for a period up to her attaining superannuation 31.03.2026. She holds a postgraduate degree in Science from Jadavpur University, is NET and UGC qualified, and is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India. Additionally, she has advanced diplomas in health and marine insurance, along with a diploma in IT. Throughout her career at National Insurance Company Limited, Ms Sengupta has managed diverse portfolios, including Miscellaneous & Liability, Aviation, Rural, Micro, and Crop insurance operations.
