Shri B. Surender Mohan, CMD, NLC inaugurated 4 newly constructed class rooms for NMJ Matriculation School and a New Primary School at Block-24 & 3 Newly constructed Class rooms for CNN-Campus Block-5 for Jawahar Schools at Neyveli on 03-07-2015.
During the inaugurations Shri B. Surender Mohan, stressed that education is the prime objective in NLC’s CSR activities and it made significant efforts to address infrastructure deficits in and around schools and NLC always extends its full support for providing healthier and educative environment. He congratulated and handed over Regularisation Orders to the 41 teachers of Jawahar Higher Secondary School and Jawahar Matric Higher Secondary School as their Services are regularised. Also he announced Rs.30000 worth books for the NMJ School Library.
Functional Directors Sarat Kumar Acharya, Rakesh Kumar, S.Rajagopal, and S.Boopathy graced the occasion. Senior Executives, Employees of NLC and School Authorities participated the occasion.
NLC under its Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme provided 4 additional classrooms for NMJ Matriculation school at Block-12, Neyveli with a value of Rs 30.00 Lakhs for the benefit of the privileged school children. Apart from this during FY 2014-15 it has also taken construction work of 3 Class rooms for the Periyakappankulam Village School with a value of Rs. 75 lakhs and providing laboratories for Iruppu and Erumbur village schools with a value of Rs. 50 lakhs.
Education as its prime thrust area, NLC offers best education through its 10 schools (3 Higher Secondary Schools,2 High Schools,3 Middle Schools and 2 Elementary Schools) to the students from surrounding villages and also the wards of the employees. NLC provides infrastructure and running expenses to Kendriya Vidyalaya (High School) in Neyveli. During the year 2014-15 the student strength of the school was 7,223. The Gender inclusion ratio is 58.3% and Weaker section Inclusion is 90.60%.
NLC spending significant share in promoting education as its CSR prime object i.e In the last Five Years NLC has spent Rs.112.82 Crores on CSR projects, in that it spent Rs 19.99 Crore on Education (General education for Youth, Special education and providing opportunities for Special children, Technical education (ITI, Mining , Diploma ), infrastructure, and scholarships for Wards of SC,ST ,OBC employees) which is 17.7% of the total expenditure.
