The National e-Governance Division, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, is conducting State Capacity Building Workshops as part of its Capacity Building Scheme. These workshops aim to demystify the potential of emerging technologies in improving service delivery and help shape policies and strategies to adapt to new digital landscapes.

Key details about the ongoing workshop in Maharashtra:

  1. Dates: The workshop is scheduled from 9th to 12th October 2023.
  2. Participants: More than 28 officials from various departments of Maharashtra are participating in the workshop.
  3. Objective: The four-day intensive training aims to familiarize the team working under policy-making public officials with emerging technology initiatives and equip them to adopt and implement these initiatives in the state.
  4. Inauguration: The workshop was inaugurated by Ms. Nima Arora, Director IT, along with senior officers from NeGD and Wadhwani Institute of Technology & Policy (WITP).
  5. Sessions: The workshop includes sessions that help senior government officials decide which emerging technologies are suitable for implementing solutions in their respective departments.
  6. Subject Matter Experts: The workshop brings together subject matter experts from both industry and government to conduct interactive sessions, discuss real-life case studies, demonstrate tools, and provide a vision for turning ideas into proof of concepts, pilots, or projects.

These workshops, launched in August 2023, feature a partnership between the government and the industry consortium. The goal is to enable the effective harnessing of emerging technologies to enhance the delivery of public services, strengthen governance, and support better-informed decision-making. Future workshops are planned in Kerala, Ladakh, Telangana, and other regions.
