Technology and innovation are reshaping India’s traditional agricultural practices, driving a transformative shift in the sector. Agri-Startups and technology firms are driving a significant transformation in agriculture, harnessing cutting-edge technologies like IoT, AI, Machine Learning, hyperspectral data analysis, and parcel-level crop mapping. This heralds a pivotal moment for enhancing productivity and sustainability.

To use these innovations effectively, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has established a screening committee comprising experts from prestigious institutions like IITs, IIMs, IISc, and IISERs, as well as domain and industry experts. This committee is responsible for evaluating innovative solutions that directly benefit farmers. The Ministry has issued a set of problem statements to solicit proposals from entities already involved or willing to engage in the agricultural sector. This initiative provides an opportunity for those offering innovative solutions to address the sector’s inherent challenges.

The Ministry is inviting Expressions of Interest (EoI) and proposals from Agri-tech companies, startups, and other interested entities to collaborate and share their expertise with the government. This inclusive approach encourages a dynamic exchange of ideas and knowledge, ensuring a comprehensive strategy for advancing the agricultural sector. The screening committee will evaluate potential collaborators through presentations, with a focus on identifying technologies and interventions that align with India’s unique agricultural landscape. Comprehensive assessments will determine the feasibility and scalability of the proposed initiatives. The committee will offer informed recommendations, identifying suitable partners for collaboration with the Ministry. In specific cases, pro-bono partnerships may be encouraged, particularly for piloting innovations and scaling them up. Through these efforts, the committee aims to drive significant progress and innovation in the agricultural sector, ultimately benefiting farmers across the nation.

Interested parties can obtain the proposal form, problem statements, and the innovation framework on the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare’s website (www.agricoop.gov.in).  The calendar for submissions of the proposal area as under:
