Indian Bureaucracy, New Delhi, May 01, 2025| The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the upgradation of two Assistant Director positions to Deputy Director posts at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVP NPA) in Hyderabad, Telangana, effective April 30, 2025.

According to a notification issued by the ministry, both positions, currently held by Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, will continue in their upgraded status during the officers’ deputation or until a vacancy arises in the Deputy Director grade within the Academy.

The decision was taken to strengthen the administrative and training framework of the prestigious institution, which serves as the premier training academy for IPS officers in India. The ministry clarified that the upgradation is temporary and linked to the tenure of the incumbent officers, ensuring continuity in the Academy’s operations.

Dr Siva Prasad Yellasiri IPS (Sikkim 2011), presently Assistant Director, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), in pay matrix Level-13, is elevated to the post of Deputy Director – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, in Level-13A of pay matrix. Dr Yellasisi is a trained physician with medical degree in MBBS and MD Medicine and is a resident of Andhra Pradesh.

Shri S Chaitanya IPS (Maharashtra 2011), presently Assistant Director, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), in pay matrix Level-13, is elevated to the post of Deputy Director – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, in Level-13A of pay matrix. Shri Chaitanya holds a degree in B. Tech. and is a resident of Andhra Pradesh.
