Indian Bureaucracy, Jammu/Srinagar, April 17, 2025| In a late-night move, the Jammu and Kashmir government initiated a major reshuffle within its police force, impacting grassroots law and order. Seventeen senior IPS officers, spanning the ranks of IG, DIG, SSP, and SP, were transferred alongside an unprecedented 96 JKAS police officers. Key appointments include Shri Uttam Chand as IGP – Police Operations & Services, and Smt Sarah Rizvi as DIG – Udhampur-Reasi Range. The shake-up also sees new heads for CID Kashmir, Traffic City Srinagar, and various SP-level positions, aiming to streamline operations and enhance efficiency across the Union Territory’s police structure.

The comprehensive roster detailing the officers and their respective new assignments is provided hereunder.

  1. Shri Uttam Chand IPS (AGMUT 2002), presently awaiting posting, is appointed as IGP – Police Operations & Services, PHQ, J&K.
  2. Smt Sarah Afzal Ahmed Rizvi IPS (AGMUT 2008), presently DIG IR Jammu, is transferred and appointed as DIG – Udhampur-Reasi Range, relieving Shri Rayees Mohammad Bhat.
  3. Shri Shiekh Junaid Mehmood IPS (AGMUT 2009), presently awaiting posting, is appointed as DIG – IR Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir.
  4. Shri Umesh Kumar IPS (AGMUT 2009), presently DIG Home Guards Jammu, is transferred and appointed as DIG – Training PHQ, Jammu and Kashmir.
  5. Shri Rayees Mohammad Bhat IPS (AGMUT 2010), presently DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, is transferred and appointed as DIG – CID Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir.
  6. Shri Jatinder Singh Johar IPS (AGMUT 2012), presently AIG Crime & Complaints, PHQ, is transferred and appointed as Director – Police Telecommunication, Jammu and Kashmir.
  7. Shri Sanjeev Kumar Yadav IPS (AGMUT 2013), presently Division Commandant, Home Guards Jammu, is transferred and appointed as SO to IGP – Technical Services, Jammu and Kashmir.
  8. Shri Ajaz Ahmad Bhat IPS (AGMUT 2013), presently Commandant 3rd Bn IR, is transferred and appointed as SSP – Traffic City Srinagar, relieving Shri Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, Jammu and Kashmir.
  9. Shri Ranjit Singh Sambyal IPS (AGMUT 2013), presently SSP Security VIP Tech, is transferred and appointed as Principal – PTTI Vijaypur, Jammu and Kashmir.
  10. Shri Amritpal Singh IPS (AGMUT 2014), presently SSP Tech CID HQ, is transferred and appointed as SSP Anantnag, relieving Shri G V Sundeep Chakravarthy, Jammu and Kashmir.
  11. Shri G V Sundeep Chakravarthy IPS (AGMUT 2014), presently SSP Anantnag, is transferred and appointed as SSP Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
  12. Shri Sanjeev Kumar Khajuria IPS (AGMUT 2014), presently Commandant JKAP 4th (Security) Bn, is transferred and appointed as Commandant 1st Border Bn JKAP, relieving Shri Ashok Kumar Sharma, Jammu and Kashmir.
  13. Ms Tanushree IPS (AGMUT 2017), presently SP State Investigation Agency (SIA), Kashmir, is transferred and appointed as SP – State Investigation Agency, Headquarters, Jammu and Kashmir.
  14. Ms Bisma Qazi IPS (AGMUT 2017), presently SP East Srinagar, is transferred and appointed as Commandant – 2nd Woman Bn JKAP, relieving against available vacancy, Jammu and Kashmir.
  15. Shri Hareesh H P IPS (AGMUT 2017), presently awaiting posting, is appointed as AIG – Welfare, PHQ, Jammu and Kashmir.
  16. Ms Divya D IPS (AGMUT 2018), presently SP Sopore, is transferred and appointed as SP SIA Kashmir, relieving Ms. Tanushree, Jammu and Kashmir.
  17. Shri Ragav S IPS (AGMUT 2018), presently SP Ganderbal, is transferred and appointed as SP Tech CID HQ, relieving Shri Amritpal Singh, Jammu and Kashmir.
